Structural Engineer / Manager Central

Michael is a Structural Engineer with over 20 years’ experience working within multidisciplined teams for various consulting, contracting and public sector organisations. Michael heads Development Nous’ Palmerston North office where he successfully manages, coordinates, and supervises concurrently running complex projects of various sizes.

Michael’s expertise includes technical detailed design, planning and associated documentation (calculations and engineering drawings) for various sized, domestic, commercial, and industrial construction projects, from the initial inception, through consenting process, onsite construction, to the final signoff.

Michael has carried out consultation and detailed engineering design/drawings for proposed upgrades to infrastructure facilities as part of ongoing facility management contracts (i.e. substation buildings and other associated structures and support elements, bridge/culvert elements, and water/wastewater plants) (to compliment concurrent design by other engineering disciplines)

Michael’s career has extended to navigate the complexities of designing for significant cultural and heritage sensitive structures, seismic analysis and strengthening design for commercial buildings as well as infrastructure, and engineering design for fire protection elements, and working with the disability sector for ACC and the Ministry of Health.

Michael's ability to swiftly address unforeseen issues with effective alternative solutions ensures project timelines and cost remain on track.

Michael actively works to remain current with continued professional development through reading, attending internal and external seminars and conferences, and subscriptions to various professional bodies.
